Renato was born in Bahia, Brazil, in 1997. He is a chemist with a strong research background in applied metabolomics. In 2024, he obtained his Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), where his research focused on insect detoxification mechanisms using metabolic approaches. Since 2025, he has been a member of the Inorganic Chemistry Group at the Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos (IQSC-USP), where he is pursuing a PhD in Organic and Biological Chemistry. His doctoral research is centered on metabolic investigations aimed at understanding complex biochemical processes. As part of his PhD, he is currently undertaking a sandwich doctorate at Chimie ParisTech under the supervision of Prof. Gilles Gasser.

He has advanced experience in analytical techniques, particularly LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS (QToF), applied to metabolite profiling and biochemical pathway elucidation.

Renato listens to a lot of music (like MPB – Brazilian Popular Music) and enjoys practicing sports such as long-distance running.
