Eduardo Izquierdo García was born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1990. He studied a BSc in Pharmacy in the University of Barcelona with a year-in-industry at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG (Biberach, Germany) and a MSc in Organic Chemistry at the same university. After that, he carried out his PhD (2016-2020) at the Research Unit on BioActive Molecules (RUBAM), in the Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC), under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Delgado. His doctoral thesis focused on the design and synthesis of chemical probes for the study of the activity of key enzymes of the sphingolipid metabolism.

In September 2020, he started a 1,5-year postdoc at the group of Prof. Anna Grandas, at the University of Barcelona in collaboration with Lilly Research Laboratories (Indianapolis, USA). During this period, he was involved in the synthesis of novel siRNA conjugates with potential therapeutic applications. In April 2022, Eduardo joined the Gasser Group at Chimie ParisTech to work on the project “Synthesis and biological evaluation of novel photosensitizers based on metal complexes for anticancer photodynamic therapy”, in collaboration with Dr. Vicente Marchán (University of Barcelona). His postdoctoral stay is funded by the “Margarita Salas” grant of the Ministerio de Universidades (Spanish Government).

In his spare time, Eduardo enjoys cooking and discovering new cuisines. He also likes cycling and hiking
