Franz was born and raised in Eschwege, a small town in Germany. He attended the University of Hamburg, where he studied chemistry. He successfully finished his Master in 2016, after having performed his Master thesis in the Gasser group at University of Zurich (Switzerland).
Knowing Chimie ParisTech from an exchange semester in 2015 in the group of Prof. Anne Vessières, Franz was very happy to come back to the same place for his PhD thesis. In Paris, Franz is currently working on the preparation of novel ruthenium complexes as photosensitizers for application in Photodynamic Therapy.
Since Franz was a kid, rowing has always been a part of his life along with many other sports. Besides sport, music is the second big interest of Franz. He started playing guitar at early age and later began to play the saxophone.
