James was born in Leicester, UK. He completed his master’s degree in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry at the University of York, with a year in industry at pharmaceutical company Redx Pharma. After this, he continued at the University of York to do a PhD under the supervision of Profs. Duhme-Klair and Wilson researching bio-orthogonal catalysts for the activation of antibiotics within bacterial cells.
James is now a PDRA in the Gasser group working on the synthesis of bio-molecule conjugates for uses in cancer therapy.
In his spare time, he enjoys badminton, football, and socialising.
