Konstantis was born in 1983 in Greece and grew up in Zakynthos (Zante), one of the Ionian Islands. After finishing school, he moved to Patras, Peloponnese, to undertake studies in Chemistry. There, he received both his Bachelor (2006) and PhD (2010). During his PhD thesis, he worked on the “Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of novel Zn(II) complexes” under the supervision of Prof. Evy Manessi-Zoupa.

Right after defending his PhD thesis, Konstantis moved to Karlsruhe, Germany and spent three months (May-August 2010) at the group of Prof. Annie Powell as a visiting scientist under the “LLP/Erasmus Placements” programme. In November 2010, he joined the Powell group and worked for three years at the Institute of Nanotechnology of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), initially as a KIT postdoctoral fellow and afterwards as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow. During this time, his work was focused on the synthesis of coordination compounds displaying physical (magnetic/optical) or supramolecular properties. At the end of 2013, Konstantis returned to Greece to wear the “khakis” and perform his (mandatory) military service.

In September 2014, motivated by his interest in biological inorganic chemistry, Konstantis moved to Switzerland and joined the group of Prof. Gasser. His work involves the synthesis of novel metal complexes and their study as potential metallodrugs.

In his free time, Konstantis enjoys doing all kinds of sports with basketball being his favourite. He also likes travelling, cooking for friends and family, listening to music and singing.
